  • They aren't but does it matter? iranian regime (similar to CCP) prioritize long term goals and regime survival - which makes sense if you actually have long term goals - while we count short term victories and wait for next election cycle and netflix/apple release.

Israel (and SA) are the only ones with skin in this game and won't be able to easily interfere forever. yes, iran has been massively infiltrated - kudos israel. But after all this recent spectacle, the regime will be focus on survival - this includes cleaning house and continue bomb building efforts.

  • I'm not questioning that PhD programmes infuse skills/knowledge useful in big tech but I wonder if here we're are also looking at useless grade/degree inflation. Surely if there's surplus of "overqualified individuals" it becomes cheaper to hire them. Is it net cost effective for all that this is the case? Do you really gain so much by wasting(?) 3 to 5 years in a PhD programme?

  • > This is not the same issue you are talking about.

    > Cars are repairable, phones are not, this is why this regulation is coming about

Anything is repairable given enough resources. It's very obvious electronics are targeted but not cars as protection for local manufacturers biz models.

  • What else would be meaningful in this context? Are sovereign countries currently restricted in trading gold backed securities when stored abroad? I don't think so.

  • You just discovered the concept of natural monopoly
