  • DNS blocking with tools like DNSNet get you halfway there without tampering with the apps. It installs itself like a VPN and filters dns requests to ad domains using lists from the same sources as the adblockers.

I say halfway because some apps have a fallback, built-in, ad when it can't reach the server, other serve the ads from their own servers so no way to block them. Most only leave a blank space.

  • Does this survive resizing images or converting from png to jpg? (or worse, taking jpg screenshots of resized pngs). Because that also happens a lot when sharing images.

  • Maybe the lack of deaths is what raises this anti-vaccine ideology.

Where I come from, whenever 2 old women meet, I noticed they always ask how many children they had. And the response is always a variation of: 6 children, 4 alive, 2 dead.

Child mortality is still present in their minds. This is inconceivable to me but my generation still listens to the stories. The future generations are not gonna listen to these stories, the US is probably already in such a future.

  • We had to remove Docker Desktop at my job (I think they started asking for money?) and moved to Lima/Colima. If this project means one less program to configure to get my docker containers running then I'm all for it.

  • You could use Qemu to emulate an older CPU, you would need to disable kvm with -no-kvm. There's also a throttle option I found while googling this.
