The publishers were just chasing traffic just like everyone else. Link pages were replaced by inline links which were preferred by both search engines and users. The goal was to provide relevant resources on relevant context rather in one big bucket dump no one's going to dig through anyway.

truly contender for the worst redesign of the decade. It's hard to see how a trillion dollar company would stumble so bad here. They must be real zealots on AR to even go here.

looking at the official examples[1] seems like it's the latter one.

Domain discovery is so underrated. LLMs remove so much friction that makes everything so incredibly accessible.

If LLMs couldn't do anything else then that alone would still warrant an invention of a century sticker.

I find the "don't let googlebot see this" kinda funny considering how top google results are often much worse. The captcha/anti-bot is getting so bad I had to move to Kagi to block some domains specifically as browsing contemporary web is almost impossible at times. Why isn't google down ranking this experience?
