I put macOS on one of those, back in the good old hackintosh days. My wife used it as her daily driver for years.

Just did this on a 2017 MacBook Air. Battery was cheap ($50?) and it was simple to do. Machine is working just fine now.

Also the bit manipulation extension wasn't part of the core. So things like bit rotation is slow for no good reason, if you want portable code. Why? Who knows.

Those measurements are screen area. The old 11” had bezels that were almost an inch wide on each side. The actual laptop dimensions are almost exactly the same.
